Chinese Delegation Calls on PROF. K.V. Thomas

A six members Chinese delegation led by Nie Zhenbang, Administrator, SAG, peoples’ Republic called on Prof. K.V. Thomas, Minister Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution here today. 

The delegation discussed among other things about the exchange and cooperation programs and modes in the grain distribution area between two countries including study of latest situation and development of grain production, consumption, storage, quality inspection, processing and trade. Prof. Thomas said the India is working on various schemes to modernize food grain storage and it would like to take advantage of Chinese expertise and experience of managing huge food grain management specially temperature control of food godowns and quality handling of food stocks. 

The visiting Chinese delegation said that because of similarity in food grain distribution system of both the countries, cooperation can be strengthened in related areas. The delegation leader said that they would like to study storage facilities,proposed food security scheme and agriculture production pattern etc. in India. 

Later delegation level talks were held to discuss bilateral cooperation in various field related food grain management and distribution. Indian side was led by Secretary Food B. C. Gupta.
